10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
There was a voice in heaven declaring something had shifted.
The accuser had been cast down. That means the case against us was closed.
And how did we overcome? Not by strength, not by willpower, not by perfection, but by the Blood of the Lamb.
In Exodus 30, God gave Moses a specific formula for a holy anointing oil. It was sacred it was not to be copied. It marked what belonged to God. That oil carried fragrance, and fragrances travels.
When something was anointed, heaven could tell it belonged to Him.
But that oil was only a picture.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:2 –
“Christ… has given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”
That is priestly language.
When Jesus offered Himself on the cross, heaven did not receive decay Heaven received obedience, Heaven received covenant fulfilled, Heaven received love completely expressed.
The cross may have smelled like suffering on earth…But in heaven it smelled like life.
When Jesus ascended into the throne room, He did not arrive carrying the odor of death.
He ascended carrying the fragrance of a finished sacrifice.
The Father did not receive corruption; He received perfect obedience.
And Revelation tells us because of that the accuser was cast down.
The blood answered every accusation.
Paul says again in 2 Corinthians 2:15 : “We are to God the fragrance of Christ.”
That means when the Father looks at those covered by the blood, He smells Christ, not your past, not your failures not your weakness. He smells obedience. He smells covenant. He smells the finished work of His Son. The anointing oil in Exodus pointed to Him. The fragrance belongs to Him. And we carry that fragrance because we belong to Him.
So on this Communion Sunday, we are not remembering decay.
We are remembering a finished sacrifice.
We remember that the accuser has been cast down.
We are remembering that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb.
And as we take this bread and this cup, we are proclaiming something, The case is closed, The sacrifice is accepted. We belong to God. If you are here today and you have never applied that blood to your life, today is the day. The cross makes you ready for His presence. The blood makes you clean.
And when you belong to Him, you carry His fragrance.
1 Corinthians 11 says:
“For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”
Today we proclaim His death.
But we also proclaim that His death was received as life.
Church — we are overcomers. Not because we are strong.
But because the Lamb was obedient.
Let us receive it together.
ASK THE SERVERS TO COME
I want to pray for us before we take communion . if you have not received Jesus as your savior, do it right now when I pray. Ask Him to come into your heart; forgive you of your sins.
Communion is received by faith.
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
