25 Then Samuel died; and the Israelites gathered together and lamented for him and buried him at his home in Ramah. And David arose and went down to the Wilderness of Paran.
Samuel being a Hinge man in the Kingdom…
Samuel stands as the hinge prophet: Last judge, The first national prophet Israel had, Samuel was a bridge from tribal Israel to prophetic monarchy.
(1 Samuel 8:6-8) Samuel’s sons failed morally, Israel failed Spiritually as well, they rejected God; rejected God leading them.
While Samuel’s natural born sons failed Samuel’s spiritual sons succeeded prophetically.
Samuel’s true legacy was: the prophetic order, not a bloodline.
This is why Scripture never rushes to replace him with “the next Samuel.”
When Samuel died, he didn’t leave a throne for the next Samuel to sit on, he left a school.
After David became King, which Samuel had only seen in the Spirit realm, he anointed David as king, but he never saw the day the crown was placed upon David. But Samuel had done something that was more important. He established a linage of Prophets who would guide Kings, and this is the Start of this era, and I propose this is still God’s means of Guiding his church.
The Prophets who guided David Samuel’s spiritual heirs – Nathan and Gad
Nathan is the chief prophetic voice in David’s reign.
Nathan Confronts David over Bathsheba (2 Samuel 12)
Speaks covenant language over David’s house (2 Samuel 7)
Nathan Guards the Messianic Line
Nathan carries Samuel’s moral authority.
Often overlooked, but vital, Called David’s seer (1 Sam 22:5)
Moves with David in wilderness seasons
Directs David in repentance after the census (2 Sam 24)
Gad represents prophetic companionship, not just correction.
This Prophetic House has a Prophetic companionship about it. This House is not about creating flashy Prophets, who are one-night wonders, but rather a lineage of Prophets who have learned to carry Presence.
Where did Nathan and Gad come from? Samuel established Prophetic training, a community prophetic life, Accountability to the Presence. Ramah was Samuel’s home.
Naioth… why is Naioth so important?
Naioth, in Hebrew nāyōṯ, literally means “dwellings” or “habitations.”
This wasn’t just a meeting place.
It was a prophetic settlement, a place where prophets lived together under Samuel’s oversight.
It was companies “Companies of prophets” (1 Sam 10, 19)
18 So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth. 19 Now it was told Saul, saying, “Take note, David is at Naioth in Ramah!” 20 Then Saul sent messengers to take David. And when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as leader over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21 And when Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. Then Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. 22 Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is at Sechu. So he asked, and said, “Where are Samuel and David?”
And someone said, “Indeed they are at Naioth in Ramah.” 23 So he went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on and prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 24 And he also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Nathan and Gad are products of that ecosystem, even if Scripture doesn’t give us a genealogy chart. Samuel fathered an atmosphere that produced prophets.
I am a Presence driven Man, I desire his Presence, this House is a Presence driven house, the very ecosystem of this house is a community of the Prophetic life.
Naioth was Presence centered, not performance driven.
Notice what Scripture emphasizes: not the messages, not the prophecies, not the individuals…
It says “The Spirit of God came upon…” (again and again)
Saul’s messengers prophesy three times, then Saul himself prophesies.
Even the enemy couldn’t stand there unaffected.
That tells us Naioth wasn’t built on gifting it was saturated with Presence. You don’t fake that, you can’t control that. You can’t weaponize that. You either live there, or you fall under it.
We have to ask a very important question. Why did David run to Naioth?
David didn’t run to a fortress, he didn’t run to an army, he didn’t run to a political ally …
He ran to a prophetic house. Why?
Because when authority turns murderous, Presence becomes refuge.
Naioth wasn’t safe because it was hidden. It was safe because God was thick there. Saul could send weapons, but God answered with His Spirit.
Hear this Pastor, “why are you here?” This is a house of safety for you, the presence is for you, I guard the Presence, and the Presence guards this house.
Samuel’s role at Naioth (1 Samuel 19:20) the word says “Samuel standing as leader over them.”
Not performing, Not prophesying louder, Just standing, That’s leadership by weight, not control.
Samuel wasn’t managing outcomes; He was guarding atmosphere.
You don’t manufacture moments; You hold space until God moves.
Why Naioth scares religious systems (then and now)?
At Naioth, rank didn’t matter, intention didn’t matter, resistance didn’t matter.
The Spirit fell on servants, soldiers, the king himself.
That’s terrifying to systems built on predictability.
At Naioth, even Saul with murder in his heart ends up undone by God.
That’s why people asked, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Not because Saul changed but because the environment overwhelmed him.
So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
The Presence is everything; and when it’s no longer Presence driven, I don’t want it. Neither will I allow its influence in this house.
Why did Samuel live in Ramah? Ramah was an elevated place, but he didn’t live there for the elevation. It’s his home and his Altar, that place where your altar is. This is where you hear God.
Shiloh was a place that was contaminated, Eli’s House was as wrong as two left shoes.
Naioth could host anyone who came under the Spirit, but it could not permit everything to enter unchecked.
