Let Us Walk in the Spirit

Galatians 5 and Ephesian 5

Galatians 5:16:17 (KJV)

¹⁶ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit again

Ephesians 5:18 (KJV)

 ¹⁸ And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

The Apostle Paul commanded the church in both books, it’s not a suggestion, it’s not just a mere direction we should go, it’s a no choice command.

Christian in name only does not make you a Christian, you must be born again. The indwelling Spirit of God will come in; this is your sign you are saved.

John 3:5 (KJV): Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? It means you are going to step out of this natural life into the supernatural life.

The Holy Spirit’s indwelling is supernatural. I never want to offend the Holy Spirit, he lives in me. I have grown into the knowledge of his existence in my life. He has patiently taught me to release his life that is in me.

Hebrews 11:1(KJV): Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The supernatural world is one step above the natural world.

The visible world is the world that that flesh is drawn to, because we were made from the dirt. When God created man, he was created as one who lived in the natural world but also walked in the spiritual. In the fall of man, he lost his spiritual life and become a soulish man.

Jesus came in the flesh of man, as man to redeem man. The cross made it possible for us to walk with God. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us makes this possible.

Who is this Holy Spirit? Well, he is the third member of the Godhead. He is here on the earth. He indwells in the believers that have repented of their sins.

The Holy Spirit will lead us into all righteousness. He makes you Holy. And, as you follow Him, he makes you holy. You are a sanctified and Holy new creature when Jesus saves you. You are saved but you are also being saved.

Did you know the Holy Spirit can be offended? He is the Living Spirit of God, the same one who leads Jesus.

Luke 4:1-2 (NKJV)

Satan Tempts Jesus

¹ Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit ^[a]into the wilderness, ² being ^[b]tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

If the Holy Spirit ever left you, you are no longer saved. Jesus can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Neither will he force you to be a Christian.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV)

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Jackie Webb performed a dance at our Pastor Appreciation event that told this story so well, to a song called “The Lord’s song”.

Jeremiah 22:9 (NKJV): Then they will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and worshiped other gods and served them.

When Jesus saves, he does it by his blood. Jesus died for your sins; his blood gives you life.

If you are not born again, you are lost on your way to the same place the devil will spend eternity. You ask where is that Hell?

God created Hell as a holding place for the angels who rebelled against God. It wasn’t created for you or me, but if we choose not to live for Jesus we have decided our own fate.

The Holy Spirit is offering you life when he offers you Jesus. You have your feet in this world when you are not saved. But when you give your life to Jesus, you are not just a person with your feet in this world, but you are a spiritual being as well. You have a foot in the kingdom of God!

I ask you since you have been saved “, How close are you Jesus? Have you moved beyond getting in point?”

Many have followed Jesus only to turn back, and many have come back to Jesus. Still, some are eternally Lost.

As a Christian there are things I cannot and should not do. Paul commanded us to walk in the Spirit, and in Ephesians he commanded us to be filled with the Spirit.

You cannot receive the Kingdom of God by Natural means. It is received by faith.

Have you been born again? Since you have been saved have you been growing a relationship with Jesus?

Acts 5:32 (NKJV) And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Listen to me!

As your Pastor, I am telling you to repent of your sins, it’s an act of faith! Get baptized, it’s an act of faith! What is water baptism? I have died and a new life has come. It’s no longer me by myself, the Holy Spirit lives in me. He’s leading me like he led Jesus.

My walk in the Spirit has started. I’m going to mature in my walk; my relationship with Jesus is going to grow.

Listen to Pastor, you will begin to resemble Jesus. The Holy Spirit will make sure of this.
