Garment of Heart

Matthew 22:1-14

1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Verses 11-12

He speaks of a garment

This garment represents a frame of heart.

What are you wearing today? Spiritually speaking?

(There is a song are you washed in the blood.)

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you washed in the blood? In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless, are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?Do you rest each moment in the crucified? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless, are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

The only way you are wearing the right apparel to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is for your soul to be saved.

We have to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. We have to have him in our hearts and our life.

Are you wearing the correct garment for the right type of party?

We can’t show up to this supper half dressed or half saved! We would never be allowed to enter in.

Again I ask you are you wearing a garment of heart?

Are you washing your garment daily?

We can’t go weeks not washing our garments.

They will get stinky, wrinkled, and hard/ they will get stiff

Verse: 9

It states go into the highways and as many as ye shall find have them to come.

Just like what the church should do: go into the world and invite all to come to Jesus.

If we are not going out to the world our garments are not spotless and our garments are too short or halfway worn.

*Again I ask you: Are you wearing a garment of heart?

Matthew 22:11-13 KJV

11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Church, it will pay to be ready and wear the garment of heart!

People that have denied Christ will try to ride on the church’s skirt tale/garment of heart.

But they will not make it in. They will not be able to stay at this dinner.

People that do not have a true confession or repentance will be asked to leave.

So-called Christians that wear the outwardly apparel but not inwardly saved will be asked to leave.

Have you ever been to a party or a dinner and was asked to leave because you weren’t invited?

Or could you imagine it and see yourself being escorted out.

Would that not bring shame and embarrassment?

Would that not be sad?

It would be a sad day if Jesus had to reject you because you had rejected him.

*Jesus doesn’t ever want to reject you but he wants you to wear the Garment of Heart!

Verse 5

People made light of it ; don’t be the people that make light of Jesus.

Don’t make light of his soon coming.

Don’t make light of your soul.

Heaven and Hell are real.

Verse 13

Hell is real and if you don’t have part of The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

You will be part of the weeping and gnashing of teeth in hell. (I know this is hard to take in.

Especially knowing we have a merciful God that gives us grace.

But he is warning us now to get our hearts ready and wear a garment of heart!

Revelation 19:7-9 KJV

7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Luke 14:16-24 kjv

16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him,

I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21 So that servant came, and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant,

Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.

23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Verse 18-20

Don’t Wear the Garment of Excuses

No matter how busy we are we can’t wear the Garment of Excuses.

Jesus will not allow us to stay if we have excuses of why we didn’t Wear our Garment of Heart!

I’m too busy.
I’m too tired.
I only like wearing that garment in the good times, not when I’m down.

Excuses will only get you escorted out of this party and away from the presence of God.

Verse 23

Jesus gives us instructions: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Don’t let anyone take your seat at this supper but wear the Garment of Heart!

Matthew 22:14 KJV

For many are called, but few are chosen.

Many are invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

But will you accept the invitation?

Will you wear the garment of heart appropriately?

Many are called to the gospel, but few are chosen (a person must accept the call to be chosen).

Again, I ask you, will you wear the Garment of Heart?
