You Can Count On A Fight

1 Samuel 30:1-13

New King James Version

David’s Conflict with the Amalekites

1 Now it happened when David and his men came to Ziklag on the third day that the

Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire.

2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there from small to great they did not kill anyone but carried them away and went their way.

3 So David and his men came to the city and there it was burned with fire and their wives their sons and their daughters had been taken captive.

4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no more power to weep.

5 And David’s two wives Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite had been taken captive.

6 Now David was greatly distressed for the people spoke of stoning him because the soul of all the people was grieved every man for his sons and his daughters But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest Ahimelech’s son “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

8 So David inquired of the Lord saying “Shall I pursue this troop Shall I overtake them” And He answered him “Pursue for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

9 So David went he and the six hundred men who were with him and came to the Brook Besor where those stayed who were left behind.

10 But David pursued he and four hundred men for two hundred stayed behind who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor.

11 Then they found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David and they gave him bread and he ate and they let him drink water.

12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins So when he had eaten his strength came back to him for he had eaten no bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights.

13 Then David said to him “To whom do you belong and where are you from”

And he said “I am a young man from Egypt servant of an Amalekite and my master left me behind because three days ago I fell sick.

14 We made an invasion of the southern area of the Cherethites in the territory which belongs to Judah and of the southern area of Caleb and we burned Ziklag with fire.”

15 And David said to him “Can you take me down to this troop”

So he said “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master and I will take you down to this troop.”

1 Samuel 30:16-19

16 And when he had brought him down there they were spread out over all the land eating and drinking and dancing because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

17 Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day Not a man of them escaped except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled.

18 So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away and David rescued his two wives.

19 And nothing of theirs was lacking either small or great sons or daughters spoil or anything which they had taken from them David recovered all.

I can relate to David. As Pastor of this church, the longer I live, the more I know and understand. David was in trouble, and now the winds of adversity had come against him.

There are always those who will stone you. David had been running from Saul, not because he couldn’t kill him, but because David wouldn’t lay his hand against God’s anointed.

Anybody associated with David had to learn that David didn’t have to go to the fight; it was inherent that if he didn’t go, it came to him.

In our text, the fight came to him. He had to do something. David knew God’s hand was upon him. David also knew God had allowed this breach, and furthermore, when he sought the Lord, God told him to go and he would recover all.

On November 3rd, 1964, I was born. This September the 17th, my wife and family followed the call of God to come to this church. We built a church, built a fellowship hall; it seems everything we have set our heart to do, the Lord has blessed us. His hand is upon us.

God has promised me He would be with me. I believe if you will bless us, I believe God will bless you.

I know it’s not everyone’s forte, but church, if you’re going to be involved with this church’s ministry, one thing I can promise is you can count on a fight. If you were born after 1970, you weren’t supposed to be alive.

The plan of the 1970 Supreme Court was you could be aborted. They have given names to this group of people, names like Millennials, Generation X, Gen X, the forgotten ones.

By today’s date, those born between 1970 to 2024 would make you somewhere around 54 years old. I have seen the demographics: economically, socially, and politically.

I understand the world turned on you. I understand the church failed to reach you. Almost three generations have gone unevangelized in America. Spiritually speaking, this generation to me is called the “children from the ruins.”

But I see God raising up Davids who have a fight in their bones and a promise from God we would recover what we lost.

Several times the words have come up that I, as Pastor, can’t save them all.

When they took God from the schoolhouse, it was because they had no room in their house, so they tried to remove Him from their consciences.

Is it too late for some to be saved? I don’t know, but you can count on a fight for your soul from me. I was born for this fight. I was raised for this fight. Everything to this point in my life has brought me to this fight.

God said He was going to pour out His spirit upon this generation, and anyone who catches this vision and obeys the prompting of the Holy Spirit will be blessed.

When they kicked God out of this country, they removed all that He stands for. The gods of the past have returned. America is walking in dry places.

She is backsliding. The goddess Ishtar walks our streets, the goddess of love, sex, and war. The internet has captured her on film, the music industry has captured her in song, and Hollywood has turned her to look like a friend. Ishtar is neither male nor female; she spans the gap between the two.

Wherever you see Ishtar, she has a companion that follows her, the Molech God, the killing of the children.

It seems no one wants the kids. They want sex; they want what makes them happy. Mommas are leaving their children in the hands of pedophiles and murderers. America, you’re guilty.

Some 60 million Hispanics, Latinos, and Caribbeans have come to this country looking for a better life, only to find themselves in a country with money. But to come to America is at a price; millions have been sex-trafficked to feed the appetite of America.

Jesus has not forsaken this generation. God’s real church is reaching this messed-up generation. Evangelizing this generation is my heart and should be yours.

I can’t promise roses. I can’t promise you won’t be talked about. I can’t promise you your friends won’t laugh at you.

I can’t promise you will always have the support you need. But what I will promise you is that you will be a part of one of the greatest victories ever celebrated.

I promise you a chance to fight for the lives of the undesirables. You can count on a fight.

I’m curious. Has God called you to the fight?

You need power. This fight is intense.

In my dreams, I have seen Ishtar. I see the Molech God. We will never surrender our youth or our families.
