Who’s the man in the camel skin girdle?

Mark 1:4-11

New King James Version

4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance [a] for the remission of sins.

Then all the land of Judea and those from Jerusalem went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

6 Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.

I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

John definitely didn’t fit the bill of normal; he wasn’t normal at all. The heart of John burned with the fire of God. A true mark of ministry is holiness to the Lord.

Who’s the man in the camel skin girdle?

Let this generation ask who the man with the fire upon his head is.

John wanted the fire of God, and he would gladly trade his camel skirt for the fire of God.

The fire of God was the heartbeat of this man of God, and every man of God or woman of God has a heart for the fire of his presence.

A camel skin girdle was a sign of a prophet, and John didn’t hide this. John lived his life out loud. God is calling you in 2024 to live your life out loud.

Acts 2

Coming of the Holy Spirit

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit, but let it out over and over. Release that thing inside you. That fire is looking for a place to spread.

Wear the fire of God; do you have a fire on your head? You don’t have a fire; it’s time you did. God gave it to you.

If you have been born again, the fire is in you. Release the anointing. You go through so much to make yourself look good, but what happens when God sets his fire in your soul?

A cry will rise from the souls of men and women who have a fire in their lives. Why the head? It’s the place where words come from.

Proverbs 18:21 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

I want to focus on the vocal gifts of the spirit.

Prophesying is prophecy. Prophesying is saying that you believe something will happen in the future.

Prophesying is a vocal miracle of speech in one’s own language. It is speaking under the inspiration of God for “edification, exhortation, and comfort.”

The Hebrew word for “prophecy” means “to flow forth or to spring forth.” It means to “speak for another.” It also means to be the spokesman for someone else.

Literally, it means to speak for God or to be His mouthpiece.

1 Corinthians 14:14, where Paul plainly states that he doesn’t know what he is saying when he speaks in tongues.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 NKJV

Christ Crucified

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of [b]human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

See what Paul is saying—not the natural wisdom of men but the supernatural power of God.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11

Now to each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,

9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,

10 to another miraculous powers, to another “1” prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, “2” to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, [a] “3” and to still another the interpretation of tongues. [b

11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

The vocal gifts cannot be released without your voice.

  1. To prophecy means you must prophesy. It means to be the spokesman for someone else. It means to speak for God or to be His mouthpiece. Prophecy is the function of a prophet.
  2. The gift of tongues is a supernatural utterance in a language or languages (earthly or heavenly) that the one doing the speaking does not understand. It is a vocal miracle. It is a miracle of speech (Acts 2:4–8; Acts 10:46; Acts 19:1-6; 1 Corinthians 12–14).
  3. The interpretation of tongues is not a word-for-word translation; it may be given in the first, second, or third person. This means God can pass a message in different ways but with the same meaning.

It is not the gift of interpretation, but the interpretation of tongues.

It is not and cannot be used if there have been no supernatural tongues spoken.; it is the interpretation of supernatural tongues.

It cannot be learned but can be given by the Holy Spirit in a moment to any Spirit-filled person.

Wear the fire well; this generation will say who is the man or woman with the fire upon their heads.
