God’s not done with my story!
1 Samuel 16
New King James Version
David Anointed King
1 Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?
Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.”
4 So Samuel did what the Lord said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, “Do you come peaceably?”
5 And he said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him!”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him.
For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
10 Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.”
11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.”
And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.”
12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
Just when you think God is never going to find a significant use for your life, when your back story is lagging, when you’ve been passed over for promotion, when you’re the least likely to succeed, God begins to write the rest of your story. Like David, you didn’t even catch the eye of the prophet when Samuel walked to Jesse’s home. He must have passed David, you know, the one tending the sheep.
In my observation, is there anyone in this house who has been tending father’s sheep? You may be like David, overlooked. Today is a day of impartation, today is a day to anoint. The oil horn is filled; the Spirit of the Lord has said, “Arise and anoint.”
Everyone has a back story, some greater, some less. You may feel you were chosen last; others have graduated before you, others got their diploma, and you were still studying. God is not done with your story. The day David was anointed, he had no idea he would be the man who would sever the head of Goliath. David’s story could have ended when he killed Goliath and cut off his head. The devil decided to do to him what he did to Goliath, and in the story of Bathsheba, David’s story could have ended, but God was not done with the story.
When it looks like disaster, God breaks out his pencil, and the Master writes the pages of the story. Someone say it, “God’s not done with me yet!” It’s not the back story God is writing; it’s what he’s doing right now in your life. The back story will make sense when you see the rest of the story. Someone say it, “God’s not done with me yet!”
The enemy of your soul has come to cancel God’s plan for your life. Unbelief will blind your eyes to God’s story. Perry Stone didn’t start off as Perry Stone; Smith Wigglesworth didn’t start off as a mighty man in the ministry of the Spirit. He was a plumber.
I see the pen of heaven; your story is being written on the wall of your heart. God is writing the story of your life.
Psalm 45:1 New King James Version, “My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”
God is literally writing your story as we speak; your steps are being ordered. It’s not your life; it’s his life in you. It’s his voice and his words.
Some have such backstories, but you have a prophetic story that’s unfolding even as I speak. As faith is being released in this house, incredible things are beginning to align. You’re coming into alignment with heaven; you have never had this happen like it’s about to happen.
The enemy has come against your potential; you say, “God, I can’t be a missionary.” What do you have in your hands?
You say, “I have children, God.” God said, “I gave them to you; raise them to be my missionaries.” Let it be said, missionaries came out of my loins.
You say, “God, I’m old now; I have squandered my time.” It’s the enemy who stole that time. Don’t allow him one more minute of your life. God’s not done with you yet!
