“Be of Good Cheer”

“Acts 27”

Paul’s adventures and travels led him to Jerusalem. There the Jewish leaders brought up false charges against him. Paul was taken up as a prisoner and eventually sent to Rome with other prisoners and soldiers on a boat. As they traveled.

Winter was approaching, bringing dangerous weather. Paul pleaded with them to stay in Crete.

He advised them that this journey would bring disaster to the ship cargo and their own lives. He proceeded to tell them we should remain where we are (Crete). They didn’t listen to the man of God.

Soon after they set sail; what was a simple breeze ended up hurricane forced winds that blew their ship far off course.

This disaster of a shipwreck lasted for several days; everyone on the boat began to think there was no hope for survival except for Paul.

Paul stood before them and reassured they would not lose their life due to angel of God giving him the good news that there will not be any loss of any man’s life among you, but the ship.

Acts 27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

*How many know that when God sends his angel to give a word we have to stand on that word.

  • We can’t look at the storm or even how long the storm might be; but stand upon a spoken word of God.

*I know there are storms raging in life but don’t look at the storm but stand on the promise of God.

*God wasn’t done with Paul and his mission to spread the Gospel, so it wasn’t time for him to die yet. Although he was a prisoner it wasn’t time for him to die yet.

  • I’m telling you it isn’t time for you to die yet (I’m talking of a spiritual death and physical death). It isn’t time for you to die.

But live and step up to the new spiritual realm that God wants you to be in.

*I have set sail times in my life, but God didn’t tell me to go.

  • I found myself in a stormy situation
  • I have found myself scared in that position I was in.
  • I have found myself out of God’s will (what a scary moment in life)

*The soldiers didn’t listen to the man of God about staying at Crete and found themselves in a sticky situation.

  • When our man of God or Leader advises us to stay or go, we should listen knowing that he is being led by God himself. If he tells us to let the cargo or extra baggage go and climb to the “PEAK” then do so and climb to the peak or next level that God gives us.

Paul had told the men that the ship will be destroyed but we will survive.

  • Again, church this world might be destroyed with evil doings but we will survive.
  • We will survive until the King of Kings comes back on the rapture day to take us home. We will survive!
  • Stay on the boat and pray (I’m talking about the good ole gospel ship) stay on the boat with the Lord and pray.
  • Though you are weary (Stay on the boat and pray)
  • Though you are broken (stay on the boat and pray)

Pastor says the anointing will cost you and I’m telling you the cost is worth it! But you must stay on the gospel ship and pray!

Take to heart what the Angel of the Lord has to say or what God has to say and stay on the ship!

Dream on 4/22/2024 early morning:

I dreamed of the gospel ship. I remember the ship was huge and strong. No strong wind could knock this ship over. This ship was massive and powerful. This ship was actually picking up one of my loved ones.

*Someday that ship is going to sail in, and we will aboard that “good ole gospel ship!”

I’m telling you church Jesus is coming back but we have to stand through the storm, and we have to pray through the storm and stand on the word of God.

Just like Paul did when receiving the word of the Lord by an angel he couldn’t see his circumstance but his Promise from God! He stood upon a spoken word!

Church be of Good Cheer and stand upon a spoken word that God has spoken to you! That word God spoke will not go void; claim now in the name of Jesus!

John 16:33 Reads:

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

*He has overcome the world and that thing you are battling or facing!

*Jesus is our overcomer! He was the overcomer for Paul and He will be the Overcomer for you too!!

*When we surround our situation or our life around Jesus we will have continuous peace. But in the world, it gets worse (nothing gets better)

Anything God does or speaks; it is done in strength and power or spoken with Power! So be of Good Cheer because if we are on God’s side, WE ARE A WINNER! WE WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED WALKING WITH JESUS!

Church, I know life is hard and we go through things that hurt us. But be of Good Cheer!

Church, we only have to endure for a little bit longer.

Church be of Good Cheer! It won’t be much longer, and Jesus is coming back.

In the middle of your storm/ In the middle of being a prisoner/ In the middle of false accusations/ Hear the word of the Lord and stand on God’s spoken word.

This short story of Paul’s life is just a little bit of his story but at the same time it had a powerful impact.

  • I believe it had so much impact because he didn’t give up.
  • He stood on the “Spoken word God gave him” that he would live and not die

I know it will be hard but try to spread Jesus in your hardest times to this broken world but assure them and tell them to Be of Good Cheer!
