The Presence in the Air
John 20:21-23
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
In Genesis 2 man became a talking spirit “God gave him life”. Adam was perfect in every way, Eve was perfect in every way.
Somebody say “Covenant life”
Genesis 2:18-23
18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
I want you to notice something very special, this is Covenant language
Eve didn’t live until she received the life of God that was in Adam
Genesis 2:24-25
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Adam is the one who received breath directly. Eve is brought forth from him. One source… Shared Life.
Ephesians 5:30-33
30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
The devil hates the life God gave man, and satan has seen a place he would use to step between God and man. He tempted Eve, and yes, Adam was deceived. Man should have died. Sin had entered the world.
Adam and Eve had lost the sinless life they had. Literally they had lived like God. the life source they were living through was disrupted and death came into the world. Every time Adam and Eve found an animal dead, it was a reminder that they did this.
Eventually Adam and Eve did die, and they were buried in the ground they came from. Hear me! God was there when they buried Adam and then later Eve died. Adam was the life force because God had given him life.
Let’s talk about the second Adam:
1 Corinthians 15:45-46 (KJV)
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
If you only live this life out that you have been given, the life that came through the 1st Adam, the natural life force we have at the Present, you will die, and there is no eternal life. And because of sin we are separated from God for eternity.
Jesus has always been God’s divine life source.
John 1:1-5 (NKJV)
The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
In verse 4 the word for life, translated from the Greek language, is called Zoe. If you will, to say it correctly is to say Zoe life, when you receive Christ by faith you receive Zoe Life. You pass from death to Life. Repent of your sins.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When you are born again you have an eternal life source, Jesus ever lives to make intersession for us.
Just as Eve’s life came through Adam, so is our life through Christ. Christ is our life force. In him is life.
“In Genesis, God gave man life, but in Christ, God gave man His life.”
Adam received breath to live, but we receive Christ to live forever.”
“Zoe life” is not just a definition, it’s the very life of God Himself.
The word “Zoe” (Greek: ζωή) is the word the New Testament uses most often when speaking about the life that comes from God. It is different from natural life. In Greek, there are multiple words for life:
Bios: natural, physical life (our earthly existence)
Psuche (psyche): the soul life (mind, will, emotions)
Zoe: the God kind of life
Zoe life is the very life of God imparted into the believer. It is not just living—it is being made alive by Him. When Jesus said in John 10:10, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly,” He was talking about Zoe. This is eternal life, but not just in duration. It is quality of life, a life filled with His nature, His presence, His Spirit.
