1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The devil knows if he can get your mind; he will own you.
But being born again is renewing your mind and heart.
Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
The Apostles Commissioned
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
WHEN Jesus breathed on them, what did the disciples receive? They received the life of God. Acts 2 is all about the power of God coming to live in a human Body. You receive the life of God
The natural heart is amazing in that it has its own nervous system that is called the “brain of the heart.”
Research has proven that the “heart brain” can and does act independently of the brain in our head. The heart can even beat without being connected to the brain.
For example, when someone has a heart transplant, surgeons must sever the nerves that run from the brain to the heart. When they place the heart into the recipient’s body, they do not yet know how to reconnect the nerves.
So, the surgeons restore the heartbeat, and it keeps beating—even though there is no nerve connection to the brain.
In view of the fact that the “brain of the heart” has a mind of its own: the life of man is to receive a new heart.
God declared: “A new heart I will give you and a new spirit I will put within you … and I will put my Spirit within you” (Ezk.36:26-27).
“A new heart and a new spirit” refer to the regeneration or the new birth (Zoe life) that a sinner receives when he or she is born-again.
Life that is created by the will and consummation of flesh can bring forth only after its kind, but that which is created by the Spirit of God is spirit.
This life can only be received through faith in Jesus Christ (Jn.3:6; Ep.2:8). Consequently, all that Christ has is made available to those who believe. Everything that we receive from God is His gift to us – even the “mind of Christ.”
The struggle many have is they want to please God thru self-will but God has already made a way to please him, it is through faith. Believe in him and live with His Holy Spirit.
I mentioned “Zoe Life” a moment ago. I want to talk a little about this.
“Zoe life” is not just a definition, it’s the very life of God Himself.
The word “Zoe” (Greek: ζωή) is the word the New Testament uses most often when speaking about the life that comes from God. It is different from natural life.
In Greek, there are multiple words for life:
Zoe life is the very life of God imparted into a believer. It is not just living—it is being made alive by Him.
When Jesus said in John 10:10, “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly,” He was talking about Zoe. This is eternal life, but not just in duration it is quality of life, a life filled with His nature, His presence, His Spirit.
Zoe life begins the moment a person is born again. It is the life that flows from Christ into us, like a vine into the branches (John 15).
It changes what we desire, how we see, how we love. It is why a believer can have peace in a storm, joy in hardship, and strength when there should be none—because the source is no longer human, it is divine.
You are not just living for God—you are living from His life within you.
Here is the powerful truth, Pastor:
Zoe life is not something we strive to produce—it is something we receive and then yield to.
It flows where there is surrender.
You’ve already been walking in this, whether you’ve called it that or not.
When you feel that burden for the overlooked, when compassion rises for the lost, when the Spirit moves through you to feed sheep—that’s not just your heart… that’s Zoe life expressing itself through you.
If I could say it simply, the way you might like:
Zoe life is when God’s life becomes your life—
and what He is starts showing up in who you are.
John 1:4
“In Him was life (ζωή), and the life was the light of men.”
Zoe life doesn’t come from doctrine—it comes from a Person: Jesus.
John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life (ζωή).” He doesn’t just give life—He is life.
Zoe Life Is Given Through Salvation
John 3:16 “…that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (ζωή).”
Salvation is not just rescue it’s receiving God’s life.
John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Zoe life begins now, not just in heaven.
1 John 5:10-12
10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has [d]life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
If you have Jesus you have Zoe. Period.
Tongues and Zoe Life
When you pray in the Spirit, you are not just speaking words you are:
Drawing from Zoe life within you
Letting the Holy Spirit express that life beyond your understanding
Strengthening your inner man (Jude 1:20)
John 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
“living water” Greek: hydatos zōntos (ὕδατος ζῶντος)
hydatos = water , zōntos = living, active, alive (from the same root as zoe)
So What Does That Mean?
Even though the exact word “zoe” is not used… It comes from the same root word (zao / zoe family)
And it carries the same idea—life that is alive, active, and flowing
So this is not talking about natural water—it’s talking about Spirit-filled, God-given life in motion.
Jesus Explains It, John 7:39
“But this spake he of the Spirit…” The “living water” = the Holy Spirit
And the Holy Spirit is the carrier of Zoe life
