Practicing Holy Boundaries

1 Samuel 19:18-24 (NKJV)

18 So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth. 19 Now it was told Saul, saying, “Take note, David is at Naioth in Ramah!” 20 Then Saul sent messengers to take David. And when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as leader over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21 And when Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. Then Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. 22 Then he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is at Sechu. So he asked, and said, “Where are Samuel and David?”

And someone said, “Indeed they are at Naioth in Ramah.” 23 So he went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on and prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 24 And he also stripped off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

Practicing Holy Boundaries

You must understand as a Christian, you have an enemy that wants you to turn on the Lord just like Judas did and not pursue the Lord.

Backsliding isn’t a pretty subject. So, I want to talk to you about Practicing Holy Boundaries. I’m saved yes, but I must still guard my spirit, or I will carry what I was only called to confront.

Have you ever left a conversation, a room, or even church service still saved, still Spirit-filled, but heavier than when you walked in?

Hear me, You did not lose the Holy Spirit, But something touched your spirit.

This teaching is not about fear, Not about isolation.  It is about wisdom for people who carry presence.

ATMOSPHERES ARE REAL

Our Text: (1 Samuel 19) Saul sends men to seize David, The Spirit of the LORD comes upon them, They prophesy instead of attacking. Saul himself comes and the same thing happens.

I can only tell you what I see:

The Spirit restrained them, The Spirit overruled their intent, But the Spirit of God did not change their hearts.

God’s Spirit overruled their actions, without rewriting their character.

1 Corinthians 15:33-34  Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

Scripture warns us because influence is real:

Spirits do not just act, they affect atmosphere. What is the atmosphere of your home?  If it’s General Hospital, then Anything Goes. What’s the Atmosphere of your life. What are you allowing to rule your life.

ATMOSPHERIC INFLUENCE

When two spirits come together, something transfers even if nothing is said. This is not possession… This is not loss of salvation… This is influence through exposure.

The stronger atmosphere influences the weaker one, unless the stronger one is guarded.

 Luke 5:12-16

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

12 And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And He charged him to tell no one, “But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded.”

15 However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Jesus didn’t withdraw because He was weak, He withdrew because He was wise.

Cleaning the atmosphere, why do I pray in the Morning time? Clean the atmosphere, what has attached itself to you yesterday. Clean the atmosphere. This church as a corporate Body must learn we have to clean the atmosphere of this body of believers.

ATMOSPHERIC INFLUENCE

The same sensitivity that lets us carry God’s presence also lets us feel the needs of people. Discerning the atmosphere of any church service is critical, discernment will let you know what the situation is you’re about to face.

Prophets feel before they speak, Pastors feel the need of the sheep before the sheep tell them the needs. Intercessors feel before they pray.

Sensitivity is not weakness, It is part of being a carrier You don’t lose the Spirit but you can lose clarity, You don’t lose authority but you can feel drained.

PRACTICING HOLY BOUNDARIES

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence…”

Holy boundaries are not walls, They are gates, what do Holy Boundaries Look Like?

Knowing when to engage and when to withdraw

Knowing when to listen and when to pray silently

Knowing what to carry and what to release to God

Some things you are called to confront, but not to carry.

The Holy Spirit in me gives me authority but I must still guard my spirit.

Lord, teach us how to carry your presence without losing our peace.

Discernment will help you to know what is toxic to your spirit, the Holy Spirit will help you navigate the impossible.

The Lord delivered you of drugs and alcohol. Do you think the Lord is going to give you a job in a pot shop?

The Lord delivered you of smoking are you going to go to work for a smoke shop. Lord No!!!! The Holy Spirit is a gate. It keeps that stuff out.

This next part is a heavenly reality

Mark 4:21-25

Light Under a Basket

21 Also He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? 22 For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”

24 Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

“In the Kingdom, God doesn’t need strong men He needs sharp ones.”

“Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket…?”

Jesus assumes something crucial: the lamp was brought to you.

You didn’t create the light. You didn’t earn the light. You received it.

Nicodemus was trained to produce understanding through study, lineage, and position. Jesus says:

Revelation comes from heaven, not effort. And heaven never gives light to be hidden. If it’s hidden, it’s not heaven’s doing, it’s ours.

Jesus doesn’t say how much you hear. He says what you hear.

This is the part most believers miss: Hearing is not passive.
It’s a gate. What you allow into your spirit determines: what grows, what dims, what multiplies

Be careful what you let interpret reality inside you.

This is a revelation of heart to me and it’s growing

I see Atmospheric rivers: “Atmospheric rivers”, this is prophetic physics.

In nature, an atmospheric river is invisible until it manifests, a long, narrow channel of moisture carrying more water than most rivers on earth.

Atmospheric rivers moving through the air, not the ground releasing rain only when it meets the right conditions.

I believe this church has an atmospheric river running through it. We are not the river, but it’s running through us.

What I’m discerning in the Body of Christ:

I’m not talking about scattered rain.
I’m not talking about emotional showers.
I’m not talking about hype.

I’m talking about sustained, directed, Spirit governed flow.

An atmospheric river in the Body would mean:

Presence that travels, not just visits

Glory that connects regions, not just rooms

Anointing that is channeled, not chaotic

Outpouring that lasts weeks, months, generations

This is corporate carriage of Presence.

Atmospheric rivers don’t form everywhere.

They require pressure alignment, temperature contrast, stable pathways, and uninterrupted flow.

Spiritually translated:

Aligned leadership… not competing atmospheres

Depth + hunger together warm mercy, cold truth

Clear spiritual channels, no dams of pride or fear.

Time they don’t rush they build

Most churches want rain.
Few are willing to become a channel.
