Faith over Fear

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Kings 4:8-37 Elisha Raises the Shunammite’s Son

Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”

11 And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. 12 Then he said to Gehazi his servant, “Call this Shunammite woman.” When he had called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said to him, “Say now to her, ‘Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?’ ”

She answered, “I dwell among my own people.”

14 So he said, “What then is to be done for her?”

And Gehazi answered, “Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old.”

15 So he said, “Call her.” When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 16 Then he said,  “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.”

And she said, “No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!”

17 But the woman conceived and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her.

18 And the child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers. 19 And he said to his father, “My head, my head!”

So he said to a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” 20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out. 22 Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back.”

23 So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.”

And she said, “It is well.” 24 Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, “Drive, and go forward; do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you.” 25 And so she departed and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel.

So it was, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to his servant Gehazi, “Look, the Shunammite woman! 26 Please run now to meet her, and say to her, ‘Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?’ ”

And she answered, “It is well.” 27 Now when she came to the man of God at the hill, she caught him by the feet, but Gehazi came near to push her away. But the man of God said, “Let her alone; for her soul is in deep distress, and the Lord has hidden it from me, and has not told me.”

28 So she said, “Did I ask a son of my lord? Did I not say, ‘Do not deceive me?”

29 Then he said to Gehazi, “Get yourself ready, and take my staff in your hand, and be on your way. If you meet anyone, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him; but lay my staff on the face of the child.”

30 And the mother of the child said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So he arose and followed her. 31 Now Gehazi went ahead of them and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, “The child has not awakened.”

32 When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord. 34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.” 37 So she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out.

MAKING ROOM FOR THE ANOINTING

(2 Kings 4:8–10) The Shunammite woman didn’t wait until she needed a miracle to make room for the anointing.

She built a place for the prophet a bed, a table, a chair, and a lampstand.

She said: “Whenever he passes by, he can turn in here.”

That is faith., Not faith for something personal…
Faith simply because she honored the presence of God.

Your miracle begins the moment you make room for God before the crisis ever arrives.

THE WORD YOU DIDN’T ASK FOR (2 Kings 4:11–17)

Elisha wanted to bless her back, She didn’t ask for anything.
She was content with her life, But heaven wasn’t content.

Gehazi said, “She has no son, and her husband is old.”

The prophet spoke the future into the present:

“About this time next year, you shall embrace a son.”

She didn’t doubt God, She doubted herself.
She doubted because the wound of disappointment had scarred her heart.

But the word came anyway, And the Bible says she conceived “at the appointed time.”

A Kairos word always creates a Kronos miracle.

I wish I had someone with faith. You would act as if you just seen your miracle through the eyes of faith.

The Manifestation of your faith in the physical world, in Kronos, is a fight of spiritual warfare from a biblical point of view. We fight from victory. We are not trying to win the battle… it’s ours. Christ conquered death and so have we, Christ conquered sin and so have we.

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the father having finished his work on earth, our eternal great high priest, Jesus said whatsoever you ask in my name shall be given to you (John 14:12-14)

The Answered Prayer

John 14 : 12- 14

12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Spiritual warfare takes place when you travail in prayer. Your answer to prayer is going to come through Kairos. Your Miracle is already done; we have the victory.

It’s in Kronos but we must receive it in Kronos. Kronos is the time God placed man in, God lives in Kairos eternity, the future.

The devil opposes your faith, and the devil uses his most diabolical weapons on the humans. Fear is satan’s greatest weapon. When fear comes it’s like poison from a snake, it kills the blood flow by coagulating the blood. Once fear comes, and it will every time, don’t act like you are better than anyone else. The devil hates to see faith get out of hand.

I have talked enough about fear, but what about when faith meets fear? One of the elements of faith is it’s a hedge. Everything in the hedge is safe and full of life. Satan could not touch Job (Job 1:10).

Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

Look at the power of faith. Hear me! You want to live by faith. Your faith is powerful. Faith stops satan in his tracks. Fear will not work where there is faith. Faith is built by the Word of God, read the Word, eat the Word, study the Word, drink from the Word. Let it be the first pill you take. Believe the word, carry the Word, trust the Word, Faith is your shield, your protection, your strength, thru faith you have access to a sword, the sword of the Spirit. This sword in the hands of the humble, in the hands of a child of God will overcome every devil, demon or attack of hell.

When a prophet gives a word from God, that word will be tested. The Shunammite woman had no son. Elisha spoke what heaven was saying. I believe that night she went home with faith in heart. Scholars say the Shunammite woman was between 30 and 40 years of age. She was well able to have a baby. No problems with the womb. The problem was the seed of her husband, her husband was well stricken in age. Her Faith caused a dead seed to live. The hedge still works.

THE SUDDEN CRISIS 2 Kings 4:18–20

The promise grew. The child grew, and one unexpected day the child died.

What do you do when the promise God gave you suddenly stops breathing?

She did not collapse, she did not panic, she did not scream.

She carried him to the prophet’s room, the birthplace of the promise
and laid him there and shut the door.

Some miracles require privacy; some resurrections require shutting the door on voices of doubt, fear, and distraction.

Shout “Faith over fear”

FAITH SPEAKS BEFORE IT SEES (2 Kings 4:21–26)

When her husband asked why she needed to go see the prophet, she said:

“It is well.” Tell someone all is well.

When Gehazi asked about the child, she said “It is well.”

Her heart was breaking…
Her soul was in distress…
Her arms were empty…
But her FAITH had a voice.

Faith talks different.
Faith sees different.
Faith speaks resurrection while standing in a valley of death.

She wasn’t lying.
She was prophesying.

THE WARFARE: FEAR VS FAITH

Fear is the enemy’s favorite weapon.
Fear is poison.
Fear clots the flow of faith.
Fear crushes expectation.
Fear paralyzes movement.

But hear this:

Fear cannot function where faith is active.

Fear must bow to the hedge of faith.
Faith builds a wall hell cannot climb.

The hedge still works.
Faith still stops the devil in his tracks.

WHEN A WORD IS TESTED 2 Kings 4:27–31

She grabbed the prophet’s feet and cried: “Did I ask you for a son? Did I not say, ‘Do not deceive me? She wasn’t mad, she was standing on the word. Every true word from God will be tested…

Not to break you, but to prove you.

Elisha gave Gehazi his staff,  but the staff couldn’t resurrect what only presence could revive.

Some miracles require more than a symbol.

Some miracles require the voice of the prophet, the breath of God, and the weight of glory.

THE RESURRECTION 2 Kings 4:32–37

Elisha walked into the room, shut the door, and prayed.

Then he stretched himself over the child, mouth to mouth,
eyes to eyes,, hands to hands.

The life that was in the prophet flowed into the child.

The child sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

Seven the number of completion.
Seven the number of divine reset.
Seven heaven finishing what hell tried to stop.

When the woman walked in, the prophet said:

“Pick up your son.” And her worship poured out at his feet.

KAIROS & KRONOS:

The miracle was already real in Kairos.
The moment Elisha spoke it, it existed.

But it entered Kronos — the natural world — when faith pulled it through.

This is your victory:
Heaven already finished your miracle.
Kairos already holds the answer.

Jesus already conquered death, sin, fear, sickness, lack, and bondage.

All you do now is receive in Kronos what God authored in Kairos.

Fear may attack, but fear will not win.
Fear may speak, but faith is louder.
Fear may strike, but faith will stand.

And even when the seed looks dead…
Even when time looks against you…
Even when circumstances contradict the promise…

Faith speaks life into dead places.
Faith resurrects what fear tried to destroy.
Faith brings Kairos miracles into Kronos time.

The hedge still works.
