Where Did We Lose It?

2 Kings 6:1-7 (NKJV)

The Floating Ax Head

1 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us. 2 Please, let us go to the Jordan, and let every man take a beam from there, and let us make there a place where we may dwell.” So he answered, “Go.” 3 Then one said, “Please consent to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.” 4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. 5 But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed.” 6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. 7 Therefore he said, “Pick it up for yourself.” So he reached out his hand and took it.

Expansion Requires Work

The sons of the prophets said, “The place where we dwell with you is too small” (v.1).

Growth demands action—they were ready to cut down trees and build.

I understand revival comes at a price, flesh rules where compromise is allowed. Don’t expect the flesh to help you any at all. We want the body

Revival and expansion in the Spirit  requires effort, unity, and willingness to labor.

In ministry, when God says it’s time to expand, it will require everyone’s participation.

Don’t Go Without the Prophet

They asked Elisha to go with them (v.3).

They understood: “We don’t just need skill—we need the anointing present.”

They didn’t just need manpower—they needed the man of God and the presence of God.

Are you building with your own strength, or with the covering of God’s Spirit?

Psalm 127:1 (ASV)

Except Jehovah build the house,

They labor in vain that build it:
Except Jehovah keep the city,

The watchman waketh but in vain.

Building without the presence of God’s Spirit leads to struggle; I want the Spirit of God ,without him lost things will not be are recovered.

Expansion must carry the prophetic covering of God’s presence.

The Borrowed Ax Head

The worker cried, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed” (v.5).

The ax head represents cutting-edge effectiveness — strength, skill, and ability.

Borrowed means it was not his own. Sometimes we operate on borrowed grace, borrowed anointing, borrowed time. When we lose it, we realize our dependence.

You don’t know what you have till it’s gone, don’t allow the enemy to take the anointing from you, show up at that prayer meeting, to the senior Ministry of this church, do you have what generation Z needs, can they borrow ax head, can they borrow the anointing, can they borrow the Prophets time

What have you lost that gave you your cutting edge? Prayer life? Passion? First love?

By the Spirit of the lord “There is a Prophetic Recovery”

Elisha asked, “Where did it fall?” (v.6).

Before God restores, He often asks us to identify where we lost it. Was it at disobedience? Pride? Neglect?

The prophet cut a stick (wood = the Cross) and threw it in the water. The iron floated—what is impossible naturally became possible supernaturally. The Cross still makes the impossible float.

Pick It Up Yourself

Elisha told him, “Pick it up for yourself” (v.7).

God will restore what is lost, but we must reach out in faith and take it.

Restoration is divine and human partnership. Only God brings your edge back to the surface, but you must seize it.

1 Corinthians 3:6-9

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

“Without God, we cannot. Without us, God will not.”
