Something Big Is About to Happen

Matthew 24:1-22 (KJV)

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 then let them which be in Judæa flee into the mountains: 17 let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Jesus didn’t mince words when He stood on the Mount of Olives and looked across at the temple. What He spoke that day shook His disciples, and it still echoes through the ages today.

“Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” – Matthew 24:2 (NKJV)

That prophecy was fulfilled in AD 70 when Roman legions destroyed Jerusalem and leveled the temple. But Jesus wasn’t just talking about history—He was revealing a prophetic timeline. And I came to tell you today:

Something big is about to happen!

Signs of the End Are All Around Us

Jesus warned us in Matthew 24 that before His return, the world would witness deception, wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, and earthquakes. He said these were “the beginning of sorrows.”

He went on to describe persecution, betrayal, lawlessness, and a chilling reality: “the love of many will grow cold.” Yet He also promised:

“He who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world… and then the end will come.” (vv. 13–14)

This is not just theology—it’s prophecy in motion. We are watching the Bible unfold in real time.

God Put His Name in Jerusalem

Jerusalem is not just a city; it is God’s chosen place. The Bible affirms this repeatedly:

  • “In Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.” (2 Kings 21:7)
  • “In Jerusalem shall My name be forever.” (2 Chronicles 33:4)

When God places His name somewhere, the enemy launches war. That’s why the Temple Mount has been a flashpoint for thousands of years. That’s why every shift in control of Jerusalem shakes the world. The devil hates God, hates His covenant people Israel, and hates the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. And let me tell you—he hates America, too, because of our covenant roots and our praise that troubles the gates of hell.

History Is Prophecy in Progress

In 2 Chronicles 6, Solomon prays a prayer of dedication for the first temple. It’s powerful. But remember: God didn’t ask for a house. He chose to dwell among His people. The Temple wasn’t man’s idea—it was God’s plan.

But as Israel turned to idolatry, the same hands that once lifted praises to Yahweh began to worship gods of wood and stone. The result? Judgment. In 586 BC, Babylon destroyed the temple. Daniel and Ezekiel were taken into captivity. But even in exile, Ezekiel saw a vision—not of ruin, but of a future temple.

God Never Forgets His Covenant

The enemy tried to erase the name of God by destroying His house. But what happens in the spiritual realm precedes the physical. When nations forsake God, it’s because His people have already drifted from covenant.

King Belshazzar of Babylon mocked God by drinking from the temple vessels. That night, a divine hand wrote judgment on the palace walls: “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.” Babylon fell to the Persians—modern-day Iran—that same night.

But God raised up Cyrus, who allowed the Jews to return home and rebuild. Ezra led the charge. They laid the foundation of the second temple—and the people wept, remembering the glory of the first.

Yet that second temple never held the Ark of the Covenant. Later, under Herod the Great, the temple was greatly expanded and beautified, becoming one of the marvels of the ancient world. But only seven years after its completion, Rome completely destroyed it in 70 AD, just as Jesus had prophesied.

Scattered—But Not Forgotten

When Rome tore down the temple, they left no stone unturned. God’s people were scattered across the globe. For nearly 2,000 years, Israel ceased to exist as a nation. But God was not done. Something big was still in motion.

World War II, the Holocaust, and a Miracle Rebirth

The Holocaust brought horrific devastation. Six million Jews were systematically murdered. But out of unspeakable suffering came a prophetic fulfillment.

The Balfour Declaration (1917) laid groundwork for a homeland. And in May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence. Just one day later, five Arab nations attacked. But Israel prevailed. God was bringing His people home.

Then, in 1967, during the Six-Day War, Israel regained control of East Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount for the first time since 1948. That’s prophetic territory.

The Temple Mount: The Epicenter of Earth’s Tension

The Temple Mount today is controlled by Islamic authorities, and Jewish prayer is restricted. There’s rising tension: “Why can’t we pray on the mount where our temple once stood?”

Meanwhile, five red heifers have been brought to Israel in September 2022 —pure, unblemished, as required in Numbers 19 for temple purification. This is not just symbolic. It’s prophetic preparation.

And then—October 7, 2023—Hamas launched “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,” a brutal attack against Israel. The name references the Al-Aqsa Mosque, sitting on the very mount where God once placed His name. War is not just political, it’s spiritual. The Muslims see the heifers as an attack on the Temple Mount.

Ezekiel 38 is on the horizon. The stage is being set for war, for the building of the Third Temple, and for the return of the King.

The Biggest Thing That’s About to Happen

Yes, a third temple will come. Yes, there will be war. Yes, prophecy is unfolding like never before.

But the biggest event on God’s prophetic calendar is not political. It’s eternal!

The Rapture of the Church is about to happen.

Hear me: Make your last plans. Make your best plans. But above all, make your eternal plans.

Jesus is coming back—not to debate, not to delay—but to receive a bride without spot or wrinkle. The trumpet is about to sound. The dead in Christ will rise. And those who remain will be caught up to meet Him in the air.

Conclusion: Something Big Is About to Happen

  • We are closer than ever to the return of Jesus.
  • The signs are everywhere: in the Middle East, in world politics, in nature, in culture, and in the church.
  • The devil is fighting hard—but only because he knows his time is short.

“Look up, for your redemption draws near.”Luke 21:28
