He’s Alive

John 20:1-18

The Empty Tomb

1 Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”

Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the [a]handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not [b]know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went away again to their own homes.

Mary Magdalene Sees the Risen Lord

11 But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?”

She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

14 Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).

17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

Imagine with me the scene. This was the third day. Two days earlier, Jesus was crucified; they couldn’t kill him. He’s the author of life; our problem is we don’t comprehend what kind of life we are speaking of. He’s not just alive, he is the well in which all life comes from.

“He’s Alive!” My question is, “Are you ready to come alive in Jesus?”

John 1:4-5

4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John 20:19-20

The Apostles Commissioned

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were [e]assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

John 20:17 says: That morning, Jesus told Mary Magdalene “Don’t touch me, but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

What’s the difference between that morning and the night?

Jesus, our great high priest, went to heaven into the throne room in his human body. In His human body, He presented His sacrifice; His own blood had paid the price required by God to redeem man.

When does the blood of Jesus begin working? “Immediately!”

When you believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, no matter what the sin may be, the Blood is applied and instantly you are forgiven.

Do you know what happens? You come alive!

Lucifer knew Jesus all too well, Jesus created him. He was the Archangel of heaven who orchestrated the worship of God. Lucifer saw the creations of Jesus. The Spirit of Life never entered the Angels. Lucifer had no knowledge of what it means to be Alive. Death was no match for Life that flows from the son of God.

I get so tired of the church looking back as if Jesus, the Son of God, is a relic of the past, the historic Jesus. The unbelieving wants to paint him as the dead Jesus. Pilate thought he could deal with a dead Jesus easier than a living Jesus.

Many people want to make my Jesus a dead Jesus, a dead Jesus is easier to deal with than a living Jesus.

But I’m here this morning preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God to you.

I was dead in my trespasses and sins, but today I’m alive. My faith in him does not hinge on what anyone else believes, it’s based on what I believe.

My faith is alive. It comes from the source of life, that water and blood flowed for me, when they ran the spear into his side. The church was born by his sacrifice.

Y’all, I have seen Jesus!

John the revelator saw Jesus, my living Jesus. Where does life come from? Jesus is the source of life.

Revelation 1:12-18

12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying [i]to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen.

“He’s Alive!” Are you ready for His life to touch you? He will cause life to come into life!!!!

I want to pray for you! Will you pray with me?

Heavenly Father, I believe in what Jesus did for me. I receive by faith based upon the word of God. Today I’m coming out of the tomb of unbelief. I’m coming out of sin; I declare today my faith in Jesus Christ. The sin I came with is forgiven and I’m leaving a new creature. I receive the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus. New life is filling my heart and life. I declare my love and devotion to Jesus Christ!

Tell your neighbor:

I will never serve the devil again!

 Shout Amen!!!!
