Every time I teach, I will include a segment called “Israel Today” that covers current news from Israel.
A reliable source I often use for Israel news is “Koenig’s Eye View” and “Erick Stakelbeck.”
In our study of Israel, we will cover topics such as Solomon and the divided kingdom, focusing on the division between Israel and Judah.
The Assyrian Empire conquered Israel in 721 B.C.
More than a hundred years later, in 586 B.C., Babylon captured Judah.
It is important to note that the ten tribes of Israel never returned from exile.
This means that Judah had over 100 years to correct its ways and avoid a similar fate.
If you find it difficult to understand your Bible, remember that your heart is like a kingdom; divided hearts fall.
You may see warning signs all around you, yet repentance is either absent or shallow and short-lived.
The Land Covenant is an essential part of biblical history, as outlined in Genesis 15:18-21 (NKJV), where the Lord made a covenant with Abram, promising land to his descendants.
This covenant was also extended to Isaac and then to his son Jacob.
The promised land includes modern-day Israel and parts of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.
More specifically, the land God promised to Israel includes all the territory Israel currently possesses, as well as the West Bank and Gaza, parts of Egypt and Syria, all of Jordan, and parts of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
As of now, Israel occupies only a fraction of the land promised by God; the rest of their inheritance likely awaits the return of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
God has assured that the nation of Israel will never cease as long as the sun shines by day and the moon and stars shine by night, as stated in Jeremiah 31:35–37.
However, they have yet to fully occupy this promised land, as noted in Joshua 1:4.
Genesis 15:18-21 (NKJV):
“On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: ‘To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.'”
Jeremiah 31:35–37 (NKJV):
“Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His name):
36 ‘If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the LORD, Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.’
37 Thus says the LORD: ‘If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the LORD.'”
Joshua 1:4 (NKJV):
“From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.”
