**Understanding the Holy Spirit’s Presence and Sensitivity**

**John 1:32-33**

And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'”

The Holy Spirit is in us

1. **The Holy Spirit’s Transition:**

– The Holy Spirit moved out of the Ark and into us. This is why the veil was torn. The veil, where the Spirit of God was, is now removed, and He lives in believers.

**John 3:8**

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

2. **Jesus’ Explanation to Nicodemus:**

– Jesus told Nicodemus that the Holy Spirit is like the wind. This Holy Dove is like the wind and blows where He will.

**John 20:22-23**

And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

3. **The Indwelling Presence:**

– There is an indwelling, but there is more. He comes and lights on us like a dove.

Sensitivity of the Holy Spirit:

– You can’t train a dove. He’s sensitive. You can train a pigeon, but many have pigeon religion.

His Indwelling and Presence:

– There is an indwelling feeling of His conscious presence.

But He is sensitive

Story about a British Couple:

– In our daily walk, we want the dove to abide, to never leave.

Grieving or Quenching the Holy Spirit:

– What are things that grieve or quench the Holy Spirit?

– Bitterness

– Unforgiving

– Anger – Prepare a message on Anger
