The consequences of a bad decision

The Rich Man and Lazarus

Luke 16:19

19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and [h]fared sumptuously every day.

20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate,

21 desiring to be fed with [i]the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water

and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things;

but now he is comforted and you are tormented.

26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,

28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise

from the dead.’ ”

The consequences of a bad decision

How many of us have made bad deals, all of us have. The consequences of a bad decision haunt us all. Some mistakes are learning lessons,

and then some lessons have more than consequential repercussions.

Some decisions have eternal consequences.

Judas betrayed Jesus, Matthew 26:24 Jesus said:

The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been

good for that man if he had not been born.”

Judas kissed the door to heaven and still went to hell. The rich man in Luke 16 had everything and went to hell.

The consequences of a bad decision

This is a mother’s true story of her 20-year-old daughter:

My 20-year-old daughter Casey said these words to me not long before she

died of an accidental heroin overdose on January 15, 2017.

She said that if something were ever to happen to her, she’d want me to

write an honest obituary about her struggles with addiction. I

trembled at the thought of this.

“I would want to help someone else.

To make them feel less alone,” she explained.

“Even if it’s just one person.”

About a week later, in our home — in the same room where we had tea

parties and bedtime stories, slumber parties and mother-daughter

nights with Snapchats and long talks — she overdosed.

Now, seven months later, as I walk through that room every day,

memories of a little girl dancing with her younger brother and snuggling

with her dog are overshadowed by images of CPR and tears.

Casey overdosed sitting next to her packed suitcase.

She was supposed

to leave for rehab the next day. She wanted to try again, to make

a better life, to live. She had hope. I had hope.

Six days later it was over. She died in the hospital.

The same hospital

where I work as a radiology technician.

Sofia Christoff unknowingly ingested Fentanyl on Sept. 15, 2021.

“I’m bored in my room,” said Sofia Christoff, who said she had found

some “powder” substance. “I crushed it up, took a line. Felt kind of

sparkly for two seconds and then I woke up in the hospital.”

Ryan Christoff said he had known that his daughter “smoked a little

weed” occasionally, but had no idea that the sophomore had actually

been secretly experimenting with a long list of drugs.

“Cocaine, Xanax, Ketamine. Acid, Shrooms, Adderall,” said Sofia Christoff.

“So just pills. Just like everything I could get my hands on.”

During that year, she was suspended from school and her grades fell.

“I felt stupid that I should have known,” said Ryan Christoff. “I just didn’t

think she was doing that.”

Sergeant David Cohen of the Lafayette Colorado Police Department.

Sergeant David Cohen of the Lafayette Colorado Police Department was

in the vicinity when the frantic 9-1-1 call came in from

Sofia Christoff’s father.

Cohen arrived on the scene in minutes and started chest compressions.

He quickly administered Narcan to an unconscious and barely

breathing Sofia Christoff. Within seconds, she began gasping for air,

according to Cohen.

She was taken to the hospital but was released only hours later.

Cohen said he used his training and experience to recognize the situation.

“I mean, I don’t know if it ever became clear to me until I administered Narcan,

and it worked,” said Cohen, who said he also

noticed “miscellaneous drug paraphernalia” in the bedroom.

On that day, Sofia Christoff survived.

Others who have experienced

Fentanyl-linked drug overdoses have not been as lucky.

Too many play games with God.

Do you know Hell is real, and rejecting Jesus is the single most dangerous decision you will ever make?

Mary K Baxter wrote a book, I have her autographed copy, I loved this woman she is with Jesus now.

Read page 15 of The Divine Revelation of Hell. PAGE 25, 27, 28, AND PART OF 29.

The consequences of a bad decision

Please don’t laugh me off. Please hear me today. I know I’m a nobody.

In Luke 16:27-31, the Rich man said,

“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house,

28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ”

In 2020, I died in St. Bernard’s Hospital. Jesus allowed me to come back to life. I’m one from the dead. Will you hear the Father today?

Will you, for once in your life, make the right choice? Give Jesus your heart
