Genesis 5:21-24
21 Enoch lived sixty-five years and begot Methuselah.
22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had sons and daughters.
23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
24 And Enoch walked with God, but he was not, for God took him.
Can you imagine with me that Enoch never died but was taken? By The Lord, he had no tombstone, but rather they erected a stone saying, From this spot, God took Enoch!
Methuselah was a son who had brothers and sisters, but they are not recorded in God’s word but only in the ancient writings.
Methuselah’s name is prophetic; it means that upon his death, judgment comes. It was in everyone’s best interest that he live.
I want to talk this morning about living with the angels. Enoch got to live with the Angels. I agree with Ryan Patterson about time being circular and not a straight line in quantum physics. If time is a straight line, then there is no end. It’s circular because the end is spoken for in the beginning.
Isaiah 46: 9-10
9 Remember the former things of old:
For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.
10 Declaring the end from the beginning,
and from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will do all My pleasure,’
From the beginning, God has told us what he will do, and it will be done.
In the ancient book of Enoch, it is told how God took Enoch. They didn’t have a funeral, but in 2 Enoch 1a, the angels are speaking to Enoch; this is his account of what he saw, speaking of the angels.
Then two huge men appeared to me, the like of which I had never seen on earth.
Their faces were like the shining sun; their eyes were like burning lamps; from their mouths, fire was coming forth; their clothing was variously singing; their wings were more glistening than gold; and their hands were whiter than snow.
And they stood at the head of my bed and called me by my name.
Then I awoke from my sleep and saw those men standing in front of me.
Then I bowed down to them, and I was terrified, and the appearance of my face changed because of fear. Then those men said to me, “Be brave, Enoch! In truth, do not fear!
The eternal God has sent us to you. And behold, you will ascend with us to heaven today. •
And tell your sons, and all the members of your household, everything that they must do in your house while they are without you on the earth.
And let no one search for you until the LORD returns you to them.”
And I hurried and obeyed them, and I went out of my house and shut the doors as I had been ordered.
And I called my sons, Methusalam, Regim, and Gaidad.
And I declared to them all the marvels that those men had told me.
They were taking Enoch to heaven for thirty days.
in 2 Enoch 1:36
36: God commanded Enoch to live on the earth for 30 days to impart knowledge to his sons and to his children’s children. After 30 days, he was taken up to heaven once more. Word “32.”|
“And now, Enoch, I am giving you a waiting period of 30 days to set your house in order and to instruct your sons and all the members of your household about everything from me personally, so that they may obey what is said to them by you.
And they will read and understand that there is no other God apart from myself, so that they may carry out all your instructions and study the books in your handwriting accurately and attentively.
And after 30 days, I shall send for you my angel, and he will take you up from the earth and from your sons to me.”
In the book of 2nd Enoch 1:64, as the word spreads that the LORD is calling Enoch, his sons, the princes of the people, and many others gather near and far.
The anticipation and excitement are palpable as they all agree to go and kiss Enoch, likely out of respect and reverence for the holy figure.
The setting is a vast plain called Akhuzan, with rolling hills in the distance and a clear sky overhead.
The crowd of people, numbering up to 2000, forms a semi-circle around Enoch, who stands in the center, emanating an aura of wisdom and grace.
Enoch, with a gentle smile on his face, addresses his sons and the assembled people.
His words are filled with divine wisdom and profound love, urging them to follow the path of righteousness and embrace the teachings of the Lord.
The people’s faces are a mix of awe and reverence, with some wiping tears of joy and humility. They have come from various walks of life, eager to be close to this extraordinary individual chosen by the Lord.
In the distance, you can see some tents and campfires, indicating that some of the people have traveled from far-off lands to be present on this momentous occasion.
As the crowd gathers around Enoch, they lower their heads in respect and draw near to kiss him on the cheek or forehead, showing their admiration and devotion.
This scene captures the essence of the moment when the people unite to show their love and appreciation for Enoch, who is about to be called up by the LORD and embark on a spiritual journey of great significance.
Heaven is closer than we think. I think we need to start the celebration in the land of tears because we are about to break forth in Glory.
Enoch is living with the Angels, living where the throne is, living in a place where we can see the burning stone before the presence of God.
Living where the Lamb is Law and death is never found
“Myrids of Angels” The word myriad comes from the Greek word murias, which means ten thousand. It is also thought at times to refer to a large, indefinite number.
So when the Bible speaks about myriads of angels, it’s referring to many tens of thousands of angels, if not an even larger indefinite number. So when, for example, in Daniel 7:10 it mentions “a myriad of myriads” of angels, it means 10,000 x 10,000, which is 100 million angels, though it could be referring in an indefinite way to an even larger number. In Revelation 5:11, it mentions “myriads of myriads,” which would be many times greater at least.
Imagine a choir that sings to Jesus. Myriads of Angels sing Holy, Holy, Holy. Worthy, worthy. Worthy.
The Apostle Paul said I was caught up in the third heaven.
2 Corinthians 12
New King James Version
The Vision of Paradise
12 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know; God knows—4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
We are not living without the supernatural presence of God; we are going to get closer to God, and this church is going to go into the Holy of Holies.
