Take Off Your Shoes And Walk
Take off your shoes and walk. (Exodus 3:2-7/11-12)
You know, as a church, we face things and even as “normal” Christians too. The truth is, we face a lot of things and struggles and tend to say, “God, I can’t follow your will right now. I have to get over this loss, or heartbreak, or this financial problem.” We tend to say, “But first, God.”
In verse 11, Moses said, “God, who am I?” God was wanting him to go against the pharaoh when he lived in that house. God was wanting him to go, even though he was a murderer. And he said, “God, who am I?” And I see as you’re saying, “Who am I?” God is saying, “You are mine. Take off your shoes and walk. Pick up your bed and walk; you’re free. You’re no longer crippled by drugs, alcohol, sex, or porn. I’m a blood-bought Christian of the Almighty, the one, the only, the name above all name, Jesus. Get up and walk. Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Take off your shoes and walk. Someone say, walk, church. Follow God, follow after your call and what God has in store and is wanting to do for you. Take off your shoes and walk.”
Satan’s attack: Don’t think for one second you won’t get attacked because you will. Satan is going to come for you; he’s gonna come for your family, your mom, your dad, your kids, your success, your church. But you got to say, “Not today, Satan, in the name of Jesus. Flee from me,” and watch him as he goes.
Something about that name. He flees at the name of Jesus. There’s something there that says, “I can’t do that,” because he knows that God is in charge. He has no power over God. He may try to tempt you, and he may try to get you, but God has a roar of a lion. The story of the Lion King is about how when you don’t have a roar, your Dad/God does for you. When you put Jesus in the mix and when you have God in the mix, there’s nothing he can do because God has all authority over him. He has a roar greater than the enemy.
This is what happened with Moses. He thought he was a nobody. Satan had put those lies into him, but God says, “Take off your shoes. This is holy ground. You’re a vessel to the kingdom of God, and nothing can harm you in the name of Jesus.”
THE BUSH: When Moses saw that bush, it was magnetic to him. It was out of the ordinary. How can something be burning but not be burned up or brought to ashes? And he drew to it. Notice how I said he drew to it. God says, “Draw closer to me, and I will show you things you’ve never seen before. I’ll show you miracles, healings, deliverance if you just follow me. Take off your shoes and walk. You’re not the same after you commit to Jesus. I’m here tonight, church, to tell you: Take off your shoes and walk for Jesus because he won’t let you down.”
